Five years ago, the Evening of Arts began with a simple idea: bring different forms of creativity together under one roof and create a space where people could experience art, not just observe it.

Since then, the event has continued to grow alongside the creative community around it. Visual artists, musicians, filmmakers, fashion designers, chefs, performers, and hundreds of guests have filled Hunt Street Station each year, transforming the building into something completely different for one night.

This year, the Evening of Arts returns with the theme Reviving the Inner Child.

Before we learned to worry about whether something was good enough, productive enough, profitable enough, or even made sense, we created because it was fun. We drew, dressed up, made things, imagined worlds, told stories, danced, sang, and experimented without needing permission.

That spirit is at the center of this year’s Evening of Arts.

Throughout all three floors of Hunt Street Station, guests will be invited to explore visual art, create something of their own, experience local film, connect over food and live music, and see Hunt Street itself transform into a runway for Detroit fashion.

More than anything, we hope the night gives people permission to be curious again. To wander into a room without knowing exactly what they’ll find. To make something without worrying about whether it’s perfect. To meet someone new, discover an artist, hear a new sound, or simply remember what it feels like to create and experience things with wonder.

Five years later, the Evening of Arts continues to be a celebration of the incredible creativity that already exists throughout Detroit.

This Saturday, we get to do it all again.

Join us Saturday, September 19 from 5–10 PM at Hunt Street Station for the 5th Annual Evening of Arts. Admission is free, but registration is required. Reserve your spot and come revive your inner child with us.
